Thomas S. Tycz
Senior Policy Advisor
Mr. Tycz received a Master of Science in Electronics Engineering from the University of Maryland in 1972 and Bachelor of Science from Lowell Technological Institute (now the University of Massachusetts at Lowell) with honors in 1968. Prior to joining Goldberg, Godles, Wiener & Wright LLP, Mr. Tycz retired as a Senior Executive and the Chief of the Satellite Division in the International Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission. In addition to this position, Mr. Tycz had worked at the FCC for 30 years in various executive capacities.
Mr. Tycz is an internationally recognized expert on satellite communications regulation, the international radio regulations, radio spectrum management, and international relations and negotiations. He has led or participated in many International Telecommunication Union conferences and meetings as a U.S. delegate, U.S. Government spokesman, or U.S. Delegation Vice Chairman.
Mr. Tycz has received the FCC Gold Medal Distinguished Service Award, the PCIA Eugene Bowler Award, the First SIA/SBCA Award for Dedication and Service to the Global Satellite Community, the U.S. Telecommunications Training Institute Award, and the President’s Council on the Year 2000 Conversion Medal. In addition, Mr. Tycz was named the FCC’s Federal Engineer of the Year in 1989 by the National Society of Professional Engineers.
